Job Description


The Engineering Compliance Manager will manage a team tasked with ensuring that OPEX’s products comply with an array of domestic and non-domestic engineering-related regulations, standard, codes, and policies (“Requirements”). Such Requirements will include mechanical/electrical, environmental, health and safety, etc. (for example, Batteries/WEEE, EMC, Functional Safety, Labeling/Packaging, LVD, MD, Machine Safety, OSHA, RoHS, REACH). The Engineering Compliance Manager and his/her team will continually identify engineering compliance requirements, develop and execute engineering compliance programs, ensure that related documentation is prepared and complete, and address other related compliance responsibilities. The manager will coordinate various compliance initiatives as appropriate with members of OPEX’s senior management, Legal & Corporate Affairs Department, Purchasing Department, and other stakeholders.

More specifically, the Engineering Compliance Manager will:

  • Identify domestic and non-domestic engineering compliance such as mechanical/electrical, environmental, health and safety.

  • Develop and implement compliance programs, plans, and procedures designed to meet all Requirements.

  • Regularly monitor, measure, and document OPEX’s levels of compliance with Requirements.

  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission to regulators, customers, and other parties of Requirement-related flings, certifications, reports, other materials and information.

  • Internally audit at reasonable intervals OPEX’s compliance with

  • Act as a project manager to track and report on schedules, tasks, and deliverables for Requirement-related projects.

  • Provide team leadership and training to achieve all duties.

  • Work cooperatively with other OPEX organizations such as the Legal & Corporate Affairs Department to develop and implement Requirement-related legal and regulatory policies and to support external audits.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.

    Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least ten years’ relevant industry experience focused on engineering compliance.

  • Proven track record of successfully attaining engineering compliance goals and developing and executing engineering compliance programs.

  • Experience with a range of domestic and nondomestic mechanical and electrical engineering Requirements (e.g., Machinery, Radio, EMC, Functional Safety, Machine Safety, etc.).

  • Experience with an array of domestic and nondomestic engineering-related environmental, health, and safety Requirements (e.g., OSHA, European RoHS, REACH, Batteries/WEEE, etc.).

  • Strong organizational and management ability.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels within the Company.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of production planning, manufacturing methods and procedures, and manufacturing quality is a plus.

    Physical/Work Environment:

  • The employee will primarily be working in an office environment with occasional travel to manufacturing, warehouse, and customer sites for observation/research.

  • Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.

  • Some walking driving between facilities required.
