Required
Summary:
Assists the professional technical staff and senior technicians
in research, development, testing and manufacture of coatings and proprietary
pigments. Gathers data, prepares specimens, and maintains accurate records for
QA/QC purposes and maintains a secret clearance and all training and
requirements to support that clearance.
Responsibilities:
·Assists the professional
technical staff and senior technicians in research, design, development,
testing and manufacturing processes which includes, but is not limited to, the
following:
oPrograms, operates, maintains, calibrate, and repairs a variety
of standard production equipment and machinery.
oConducts a variety of tests using established methods.
oPrepares tests specimens and performs sample preparation.
oExtracts and compiles data and presents the data in prescribed
form.
·Orders, as needed, necessary
materials or supplies.
·Maintains accurate records per
production and quality standards.
·Accesses the safe for storage of
classified paperwork.
·Completes and stays current with
all training requirements.
·Performs additional
responsibilities as appropriate or as requested.
Physical and Mental Demands:
·Regularly or frequently talking,
hearing, touching, grasping, standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms and
performing repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.
·Light work exerting up to 20
pounds of force.
·Clarity of vision at 20 inches
or less, three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors,
and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus to review
test results, perform testing of CSTRS, install strain gage, view PC screen,
read technical manuals, calibration of machines and equipment, adjust
equipment, use measuring devices, microscopes, etc.
·Concentrated attention to
precisely weigh samples and chemicals, run tests and make adjustments while in
progress, calibrate equipment, write reports, operate analytical equipment,
etc.
·Apply principles of rational
systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagrammatic, or schedule
form.
·Intermediate to advanced math
skills to deal with mathematical relationships, algebra, geometry, and shop
math (i.e. fractions, percentages, proportions, slide rule, etc.).
·Intermediate reading and writing
skills.
Work Environment:
·This position is safety
sensitive.
·Moderate noise level.
·Frequently works near fumes or
airborne particles, with toxic or caustic chemicals or near moving mechanical
parts.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
·High school diploma plus some
additional technical related coursework preferred.
·Considerable related technical
work experience.
·Skill in using a variety of
standard tools and laboratory equipment.
