Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) is seeking
a highly organized and detail-oriented Mortality Surveillance Case
Manager to support the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES).
The Case Manager will be responsible for managing casualty notifications,
medical record retrieval, and quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance
with regulatory requirements. This position is integral to the overall mission
of tracking and analyzing mortality data to enhance readiness and safety within
the Armed Forces. The Mortality Surveillance Case Manager will play a crucial
role in supporting the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System's mission by
managing case records, ensuring data integrity, and contributing to the
continuous improvement of case management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
·Casualty Notifications: Retrieve casualty notifications from various sources,
including e-mail, telephonic communication, and the Defense Casualty
Information Processing System (DCIPS).
·Investigation: Initiate investigations into the location, jurisdiction, and
autopsy status of the decedent.
·Report Retrieval: Collect applicable reports such as death certificates,
investigative reports, toxicology results, and autopsy reports for upload into
the Armed Forces Medical Examiner Tracking System (AFMETS).
·Data Extraction: Extract predetermined medical record data for input into
AFMETS
·SOP Development: Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for
data retrieval, extraction, and quality control/assurance.
·Daily Reporting: Prepare and submit daily written casualty status reports and
fulfill any other associated reporting requirements.
·Legacy Case Management: Enter and manage cases from previous years to ensure
comprehensive records.
·Case Follow-Up: Complete follow-up investigations on all cases to ensure the
medical cause and manner of death are clearly identified, and all
epidemiologically relevant questions are answered.
·Medical Records Processing: Process and maintain medical records in strict compliance with
regulatory requirements.
·Quality Assurance: Provide quality assurance support to ensure compliance with
all policies and regulations.
·Data Support for Studies: Provide data and information for scientific studies and
reports when requested by government personnel.
·Issue Resolution: Analyze and evaluate issues related to case management and
propose solutions for review by AFMES Mortality Surveillance.
Basic Qualifications:
·Education:
oBachelor's Degree in a related field with 4-6 years of
experience, or Associate's Degree with 6-8 years of experience.
·Experience:
oPractical knowledge of medical record procedures and references.
oExperience maintaining detailed documentation on quality control
methods and procedures.
oFamiliarity with medical terminology, especially as it pertains
to causes of death.
oKnowledge of military terminology, protocols, and the structure
of military organizations.
oExperience from the National Center for Health Statistics, state
mortality registries, or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
·Skills:
oExcellent oral and written communication skills.
oAbility to work collaboratively within a team to meet
organizational goals.
oProficiency with computer information systems technology and
above-average computer skills.
oAbility to develop and maintain SOPs related to case management
and quality control/assurance.
oStrong attention to detail and ability to follow established
procedures using current guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
