Starting Pay: $63,565 (paid hourly) with an increase to $68,723 after successfully completing 7-9 months of training
Experienced Telecommunicators: May start at a higher pay step based upon related, recent experience

DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM) is among the largest consolidated 9-1-1 communications centers within the State of Illinois and located in Wheaton at our newer facility. DU-COMM is a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation serving 45 Police/Fire/EMS agencies throughout DuPage County.
DU-COMM is recruiting qualified applicants, entry level or experienced, to join our team. No experience is required and excellent training is provided.

Telecommunicator job duties include:
Answering 9-1-1 telephones
Transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio
Relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) terminal
Monitoring fire/burglar alarms
Answering administrative lines serving the police/fire personnel

TESTING:
Complete and pass the required typing and Criticall tests (testing links emailed twice a month and there is a deadline to complete required tests so please check emails and spam).

Job Requirements
Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Applicants must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
Applicants must be able to pass typing test at least 35 wpm (2 chances) and pass Criticall testing
Applicants must be able to pass the post-offer full police background investigation including fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological exam, and physical/vision/hearing screenings as well as drug test
Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking are fundamental
Employees will rotate on all 3 shifts during their first 2 years, therefore all applicants must have the ability to work any of the 3 shifts, weekends and holidays along with overtime that maybe mandatory
